At corporate level, the most of proxys are authenticated now, ISA server from Microsoft, Squid with Samba support, etc.
In a Microsoft network with a domain with active directory services, Windows NT challenge/response (also known as NTLM version 1 or 2 challenge/response) is the default way to control users at proxy level.

My suggestion is to add support for NTLM authentication at great evilLyrics.
