Though a plug-in is the q;@?How to: different WM9 skins Clairvoyancemushroomramon@yahoo.com 80.179.0.75ill show the <artist> - <song>.

Long version:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=b348a222-2993-4808-a904-efe51a5dab17&displaylang=en

Short version:
0) Backup your current OldSkin.wmz, usually found in:
    Program Files/Windows Media Player/Skins.
1) Open OldSkin.wmz using Winzip.
2) Open the JavaScript file (*.js) and find a function called:
    UpdateMetadata() or something similar.
3) Most probably the function already retrieves the artist and song
     names.  All you have to do is put it at the title. Assuming this string
     is called STR1 this will look something like:
     view.title = STR1
4) save the new zip as NewSkin.wmz and load it into the WM9.

I have done it to my favorite "economical" skins (Revert and miniplayer).
If anybody is interested I will put the wmz files on the web.

Ramon.

nice find, actaully, i never really knew how this skin stuff works, it just worked.

Sam promised to take a look at WMP SDK and if it's possible and easy he will create little plugin for WMP that will enable to fetch info from WMP like we do it with Winamp  ... so there won't be any need for skin changes

but anyway, if it for any reason will not be possible, we can explore this possibility little more, maybe there is a way how to insert this part of javascript or watever it is into any skin automatically

thanks for letting me know

Just to let WMP9 users know, a "background" plugin is on the way which will allow EvilLyrics to work with Windows Media player no matter which skin is used, or if full mode is used.

Wow! Thanks guys!:D I was really getting tired of switching between the Media Library in Full Mode and the skin to get Evil Lyrics to work.

any news on the background plug-in?
sounds like a better alternative to using the edited skin (in compact mode)
