I was wondering if there are huge, general, packs of lyrics available in txt format so that I can just throw that in my database and not have to download each individually.

Right now there is none. I plan to implement packing of the lyrics archive ... then there will be possibility to import and export downloaded lyrics, so the users will be able to exchange their archives.
