Title: having problems
Post by: useless on September 16, 2004, 02:29:50 PM
I'm having problems with the hebrew translation, while in some places it looks fine, in other places you can only see "funny letters" as if it's the wrong encoding\font. (the same problem happens with songs which have hebrew titles in ELLO)

Title: Official Localization thread - UPDATED
Post by: hebrew on September 16, 2004, 04:22:52 PM
I've changed the charset to hebrew (177), that isn't the problem. the problem is that the font that's used doesn't support hebrew (I had the same problem with the lyrics but their font is changable).

anyway, I've finished the translation, and sent it.

Title: hebrew font problem
Post by: useless on September 16, 2004, 04:42:29 PM
I suggest that to solve the hebrew problem (which probably happens in other non latin languages too) the .lng file has to include, apart form the charset, a font name and the option to align the text to the right (very important when dealing with text that contains both hebrew and english, because the whole thing just gets mixed up. this is the same in any language that's written from the right to the left).

I know it must mean more work, but that sounds like the most logical way.

Title: Bug in localization
Post by: ZeroPlus on September 18, 2004, 06:33:21 AM
Doing some test I found that EL crash with runtime error 13 ?data type mismatch? when changing the localization language

How to:
Compile the language file with a not numeric value in the setting ?Charset? and apply it

Example:
Code:
--- localization file start

Charset|ABC

Thanks ZeroPlus, it will be fixed

Quote from: Many users

Encoding information from language file doesn't get applied to all the strings.

It will be fixed in the next build, same with alignment and right to left order for Hebrew

Title: Russian version
Post by: nifnif on September 22, 2004, 10:52:06 PM
Russian complete.

In win2000 and XP you can use registry fix for correct display russian letter.
It change 1250 and 1252 codepage on 1251 cyrillic.

ATTENTION!  Use this fix carefully!

Update from 12 nov 04
Now you dont need this path, build 135 include russian lang file and work fine with russian in interface in Win9x and win2k/XP.

Теперь нет необходимости применять данный патч, скачайте билд 135, проблемы с русским языком там решены. Программа корректно отображает русские символы в меню/окнах в Win9x и win2k/XP.
Для корректного отображения лирики есть выбор кодировки: кликните правой кнопкой мыши в окне лирики и выберите в Кодировке Cyrillic.
Big Thanks to Marek :D

I'm currently working on Catalan.

I would like to know if the done Spanish is Spanish (Spain) or Spanish (Latin), because that would make a difference like Portuguese (Portugal) and Portuguese (Brazil). Worth to mention.
In the case it is Latin, I could do the Spanish version. Let me know!

Expect some more news of Catalan soon! ;)

Some fields are having problems with displaying some spacial characters like ï and ò, although others (sometimes even in the same dialog) show up correctly these characters. This seems to be rather independent of the charset configuration chosen.

Please tell me how to fix it or if it will be fixed in the future, thanks.

Lithuanian translation is bad!!!
Once I corrected it and posted and now the same spelling and linguistic errors appeared again. Even more, some of translations are incorrect, the last translation was not tested. Seems like the person doesn't know computer terminology at all. I want to take an owership of the translation.

Posted an update but I lost my previous translation, so some things can be corrected later.

The "latest" language.txt file that we find if we like to translate EL is for build 134

Now when translated a couple of texts vanish...

under Advanced-tab

the left button that says Update is blank
and so are Milkdrop support-text
and autodetect charset-text
