Title: Translators needed
Post by: Daniel on March 02, 2004, 12:21:35 PM
Due to many requests we started to think about versions of EvilLyrics for other languages. Existing version is in english and so far we didn't consider other languages so enabling other languages in this phase of development would require quite a lot of work. That's why we would like to ask if anyone is willing to translate EvilLyrics. Once we are sure we have translators for at least some 3 languages we can start work on different language support.

That would require translating of about 100-200 strings to your language.

So if anyone is willing to translate, please let us know.

finally we decided to not include translations into next release because it would postpone it for another month or so. so there will be a release next week and after that we can start working on translation system. i expect it to take about a week, so if everything is going ok two weeks from now template for translation should be ready.

thank you in advance for help

I'd be delighted to translate this lovely program to Hebrew.

I understand you don't have a working mechanism right now, but if you do have some sort of strings resource file or something, by all means - publish it here, so we can grasp the magnitude of the translation task.

May the force be with you!!!  :D

Kwan: Are you good at english-swedish translation? I've seen lots of programs out there with very poor translations. I went to an american school when I was younger... So I guess I could do the translation if Kwan is not very anxious.

I think I will manage it

If there is any typing faulties in these forums is because I write and don't check up stuff

But I will do this right... I don't really like how some translate things in movies and applications...

So if I don't make it.. so.. go ahead and  correct me..

i'm not sure what it actualy means but....
i'd like it to work with hebrew songs but i'm not quite sure it CAN :O)
i dont think its important that the program itself will be hebrew... just that it'd work with hebrew (or anyother language for that matter... though for me personally it would'nt matter other for english and hebrew...)

and while i'm at it......... i'd like to thank you guy's for making this program !!!
its so simple and great :O)
good luck and keep up the good work!

simisu

I don't think it's so important to translate the software. What is needed is to make the software work in other languages, like Hebrew.

אני חושב שצריך לשים את האתר
shiron.net
ברשימה של האתרים כך שיתאפשר בו חיפוש

I could translate EL to Finnish. There are alot of finnish users out there, and I think that they all would be glad to have a Finnish translation available (at least the younger ones, who dont read english that good).
Contact me by e-mail [theSmuli(a)2DiE4.com] if interested. It wouldnt take me more than a few days to translate the software.

Waiting for your email,

I can be another Italian translator...

but if you only let us translate strings it will be hard to make a good translations... for some language you sometimes also need to change the position of a variable

Example:

[lyrics007] filter used (UK) becomes

filtro [lyrics007] utilizzato (IT) or
filtro utilizzato: [lyrics007] (IT)

- however... -
another time i write that: Great program!!!! it would really be an honour to collaborate with EL ;)

Well, a bit later than w ý«
ì8CGATranslators neededMarekevillabs@zoznam.sk213.151.217.74http://www.evillabs.sk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=888]this thread [/url]. If any of you is still interested in translating please read the instruction, download needed files and you can start.
Program grew a little since we announced we're thinking about localization so also amount of strings is bit bigger. Actually it's 250 strings, approximately 4 words each. I tried to make a translation to slovak language, it took about 90 minutes so i assume in average it can take like 1-2 hours.

There may be some problems with languages like chinese or japanese, i didn't test it as i have no clue when it displays properly. So please test if it works and if not contact me please at evillabs@zoznam.sk ... also it doesn't count with right to left script yet, it will have to be done.

If you experience some problems with labels where translation is longer than original text do it won't fit into label or button, try to rephrase or if it can't be done let me know ... resizing some of the components should not be a problem

Sorry, but in my EvilLyrics-Version (V 0.1.7 build 127) I can't find this option - not in <General>, not in <Cache ...> and not in <Advanced>!
What's or who's wrong? I've tried the german translation "LangGerman.lg", found at your website, translated by Timo Goldstein & Achim Weimert.

Und pm mich, wenn du Fehler in der Übersetzung findest! :)
