Title: Lyrics not found!
Post by: ericrose on July 22, 2005, 08:14:10 PM
Hi! Perhaps someone might help me with this: With every song title I get, first, Downloading Error, and, then, Lyrics not found. I just downloaded the latest version (141), but it didn't help. I use Win XP SP2 and Opera 8.0; AVG Anti-Virus, Kerio Firewall and Proxomitron (ad-filter). I've tried with Proxomitron at Bypass all filters, and Kerio Network Security at EvilLyrics is Permit In, Permit Out. Could there be proxy involved ( I really don't know very much about those, I'm not so technical). In my earlier computer I had Norton, and then EvilLyrics worked well, unfortunately I don't have that anymore. What should I do?

ok. i got the same problm Lyrics not found! -> but didn't (firefox runs this way)
2. with proxy set to (server running jana 2) and port 4480 (http) -> nope
3. with same ip but port 1080 (socks) -> should run with http, but i wanted to try everything
4. with no proyx but socks cap. (other apps work)
5. and running winamp with socks cap -> but el is no plugin and so it didn't work either

i tried it with the latest stable release and the nighlies -> no luck.

i also tried it with the old (dunno how old) installer from "0.1.8 b140.zip" ->
and the setup-app even downloads some files (which tells me that ics works fine)
but it didn't work either.

the last thing i tried was installing it on the server with direct inet connection -> and it worked  :|

but former it worked on the clients too, so i don't know any further.

//edit:sorry i forgot:
both winxp, no firewalls, the same services disabled on both computers.

//edit the 2nd:
ok, it's winxp service pack2 might this be a problem?

//edit the last:
ok now i tried all the things from above again but
this time watching the port activities with "Active Ports"
and there is nothing. :?

even if i try to telnet google or do something else that won't work
active ports shows me some activities...

i am so desperate that i even tried it with ethereal ^^
and still nothing :( no single packet.

please test if the other functions of the program which access internet is working.. Like trying to update the karaoke index, filters, testing karaoke account login (all this in the options dialog), and testing the item "explain" when you right click over an word in the lyrics of some song..

Watch the net sniffer to see if the packets are sent..

maybe you will have to do a clean reinstall of the program and manually reinstall the winsocks dll... there were some topics before that Marek described how to do this.. Please do a forum search and try it... if you can't find it just ask me that I'll try to find the links for you..

ok i found this link:
but i don't have a MSWINSCK.OCX.
so i downloaded it and copied it into the sys32 dir and then registered it but
it's still not working. (http://www.ascentive.com/support/new/support_dll.phtml?dllname=MSWINSCK.OCX)

i forgot to write yesterday, but i already tried all the other functions that
require inet -> did not work either. karaoke login test ->
"site error, please try again later"...

then i tried to remove the winsock.dll and get a new one from here:
does still not work...
