After first installing EL/ELLO, ELLO opens and runs properly.  During this first run, it adds a file named Ello.exe.manifest to the EL folder.  Once this file is added, Ello.exe will not run.  When trying to execute Ello.exe, there is only a Windows error sound, without any error messages popping up.  Looking in Event Viewer, I saw the following messages.

Syntax error in manifest or policy file "C:\Program Files\EvilLyrics\Ello.exe.Manifest" on line 1
Source: SideBySide
Event ID: 58

Generate Activation Context failed for C:\Program Files\EvilLyrics\Ello.exe.Manifest. Reference error message: The operation completed successfully.
Source: SideBySide
Event ID: 59

For ELLO to run again, Ello.exe.manifest must be deleted.  When Ello.exe is run again, the manifest file returns and ELLO fails to open again. I'm on WinXP Pro.

did you try with latest version? (released on thursday or so) if not then rerun the installer and check ELLO option again (it will be redownloaded).

It happened to me with older versions but this one works ok. So please check again and let us know. If there's bug Felipe should be able to fix it by the end of the week.

The event viewer errors appeared only after I messed around with the manifest file, so there's no problem there.  The windows error sound still occurs without an error message when the manifest file is present, and ELLO still won't open while the manifest file is in the EL folder.  I've uninstalled EL and cleaned up everything in the folder, then reinstalled, and got the same results.  I've used the last two EL dev releases (Feb 21st and 23rd), which downloaded the latest ELLO.

Well atleast I'm not the only one with this problem. Thanks for letting me know that.  Just deleting the manifest initially seemed to  resolve the issue temporarily.
Oh I love the program(s.)
Thanks for the hard work guys. Cheesy
